Frequently Asked Questions 2

Q: Do you have other ways of raising funds?

A: Like all self-financing groups, we are always seeking ways of boosting  our balance: more money in the bank means grander concerts! We run a  popular Quiz / Fish & Chips social evening annually, and are open to suggestions! Likewise we also seek advertisers: for a very reasonable fee, you could place an advert in our concert programme – please contact us for details.

Q: You mentioned music-hire?

A: The cost of hiring music is borne by your subscription. Our hard-working Librarians do a marvellous job and the music is always waiting for us at the first rehearsal following a concert; you can help them by returning your score promptly after the concert, or arranging to get it to us without delay if you are unable to be there ‘on the night’.

Q: What concerts does the Society give?

A: We have generally put on four concerts per year at St. Peter’s Church in Laleham Road, Staines-upon-Thames. Many of these concerts are enhanced by professional soloists and/or orchestra, adding an exciting dimension to our performances

Q: Is there anything I can do to help at concerts?

A: Besides singing, of course? Very much so! We own a set of bespoke staging which has to be set up in the church before the final rehearsal, and is dismantled after the concert; many hands make light work of this task. Assistance at front-of-house and serving refreshments during the interval is much appreciated.

Q: Was there anything else?

A: Tell your friends and family, place our brochure locally where it will be seen, and encourage those who would enjoy it to come to our concerts! Our best advertiser is YOU: word of mouth and enthusiasm for what you are doing makes all the difference!
