Ashford Choral Society was founded in 1920. Since then, the Society has gone from strength to strength, but never more so than under the baton of our current Musical Director Peter Beaven, with whom we have achieved well deserved recognition as the foremost local choir. We are an enthusiastic group of people who are committed to producing music of the highest quality. We regularly sing to full houses and some notable achievements over the last few years have been an exciting and moving Elgar's The Music Makers and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Choral) at Eton College School Hall, a sublime programme of works by Bach and Handel, a deeply moving Messiah accompanied by period instruments and a memorable performance of Creation at the RMA Sandhurst.

Professional soloists are normally employed to assist in the making of music to the highest possible standard.

Membership of the Society is open to all singers. We welcome new members with experience of choral singing, or a desire to learn and be challenged by the range of choral music which will be encountered with this Society. There are no auditions but new members are expected to rehearse to keep up the standard of the performances. We have training days to help members progress in their singing.

A CD of Christmas music Joy to the World was released in 1997 featuring ACS and our Honorary Patron, the virtuoso organist Carlo Curley.

We are above all a friendly and happy Society. New members are always welcome and whilst choral experience is helpful, a desire to learn and to enjoy singing a wide range of music is all that is needed.
